* IV iron can cause nausea, headache, dizziness, flushing, blood pressure changes and infusion-site reactions. Rarely, serious allergic reactions may occur. But if there’s indication, don’t worry of taking iron infusion
Next Steps
* IV iron should be administered under medical supervision with monitoring during and after infusion.
* Vitamin B12 injection can generally be given the next day.
* Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, chest tightness or fainting

Hello,
IV iron infusions are generally safe and effective for treating iron deficiency when prescribed appropriately.
However, some side effects can occur:
Common side effects:
- Nausea, headache, or dizziness.
- Metallic taste in the mouth.
- Muscle or joint aches.
- Temporary flushing or changes in blood pressure.
- Pain, swelling, or irritation at the injection site.
Regarding vitamin B12: Yes, taking your prescribed vitamin B12 injection the day after an IV iron infusion is generally safe. There is no routine requirement to separate these treatments by several days.
Next Steps
1. Confirm which IV iron formulation and dose you are receiving. The appropriate interval between day 1 and day 3 depends on the specific preparation.
2. Remain under observation for at least 30 minutes after the infusion.
3. You may receive your prescribed vitamin B12 injection tomorrow, provided you have no significant infusion reaction and your treating doctor agrees.
4. Follow-up CBC and iron studies are usually recommended after treatment to assess your response.
Health Tips
My recommendation: Taking vitamin B12 the day after IV iron is generally safe. However, confirm that your day 1 and day 3 iron infusion schedule is appropriate for the exact formulation and dose.
Mild headache, nausea, or body aches may occur temporarily after treatment.
Seek medical attention if you develop breathing difficulty, facial or throat swelling, fainting, or severe chest discomfort during or after an infusion.
Report persistent muscle weakness, bone pain, or unusual fatigue, particularly if receiving ferric carboxymaltose, as these may indicate low phosphate levels.
Most patients tolerate IV iron well, and serious reactions are uncommon when treatment is administered under appropriate medical supervision.
Wishing you a smooth treatment and speedy recovery!

Common side effects of an IV iron infusion include nausea, headache, flushing, muscle or joint aches, a brief dip in blood pressure, or mild soreness at the infusion site. Most settle within a day. Taking your B12 injection the next day is fine, there's no need to space it further apart from the iron infusion.
Next Steps
Keep the day 1 and day 3 infusion schedule as your doctor advised, drink enough water, and rest for a bit after each infusion. Go ahead with the B12 injection on its planned weekly schedule, and discuss this with your treating physician if any side effect feels unusual.
Health Tips
Tell the infusion staff right away if you get itching, breathlessness, swelling of your face or lips, or dizziness during or soon after the infusion.
