Iv iron orofer FCM 500 how safe is it?
Hi. Had a routine blood test as I was feeling tired. Hemoglobin was 8.9. Started iron tablets couldn't tolerate at all. Nausea and vomiting after iron. I already have gerd and gastritis before iron tablets. So this exaggerated it. Doctor asking to take orofer FCM 500 injection via IV. How safe is it and what are the side effects? I already had one dose 250 instead of 500 today morning and I am fine till now (about 3 hours since infusion).

Risk of anaphylactic reaction cannot be ruled out.so it is always better to take this drug as infusion over 1-2 hrs in hospital setting where the complication can be managed in an event.
