Hey there! I understand how difficult it might be for you to deal with anxiety and mood swings.. However let me tell you that you have taken the right step in the right direction by asking for help. The best thing you can do is to consult a Psychologist.A psychologist will be able to come up with a treatment plan for your specific concern. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is commonly called CBT is a form of talk therapy which works wonders for anxiety and mood swings. It will help you replace unhealthy thought patterns with healthy ones and help you manage anxiety a lot better. There are also many other types of therapy. On consulting a psychologist, he/she will be able to guide you from there. However here are some steps you could take to manage your anxiety and other mood related concerns better: Identify your triggers - Know what triggers your anxiety. Knowing what causes your anxiety spiral will help you manage it better. Leave the situation - If it is a specific situation that triggers your anxiety, leave the situation. Take a walk or listen to some music so that you can come back to the situation once you have calmed down and then do the needful. Practise grounding techniques: One of the easiest and most effective things to do is to identify 5 things you can see, touch, smell, feel and taste. This will help you focus on the present and improve your mood. Visualise yourself in your safe space- Visualising yourself in a place where you feel safe will automatically calm you down and help you manage your anxiety better and calm you down and probably even leave you feeling a lot more positive. Practise mindfulness and meditation- Even ten to fifteen minutes of practising mindfulness a day is said to have had amazing results. The positive effects of mindfulness are truly underrated, so search for a simple mindfulness for anxiety, and improving mood on youtube and try it out! You will see how effective it is for yourself! Sleep during the same time every day and also make sure that you get eight hours of sleep a day. Reach out to your loved ones and talk to them about your concern Hope this answers your question! Stay strong you have got this!

Dear human, I hope you are doing fine. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concern. With the lockdown, a lot of aspects and situation of normal everyday life has changed and what you are feeling is completely normal. A lot of anticipation and overthinking can cause serious anxiety, depression, stress to your mind and body, etc. I suggest you should consult a therapist at the earliest. But in the meantime there are a few tips that will help you take care of yourself and make you feel a bit more comfortable: 1. 5-4-3-2-1 exercise - Whenever you feel like you’re getting into the spiral of overthinking or you feel stressed out, take few slow and deep breaths and name five things in your environment that you can see, four things that you can hear, three things that you can touch, two things that you can smell and one thing you can taste. 2. Keep a journal handy and put your thoughts down as is, whenever you are in the midst of such thoughts. 3. Exercising is a great aide in keeping yourself from engaging in troublesome thoughts. You don’t have to per se join a gym if you don’t want to but light stretches, some breathing exercises would do the job too. 4. Try identifying the triggers for your overthinking because awareness of these triggers or warning signs helps in consciously reducing them and also avoiding those triggers or distracting from them. 5. Try focusing on your hobbies and interests or anything that you love to do. It can be as simple as taking a walk, watching a movie, reading a book, playing a game, etc. As there is not sufficient information to identify the thinking patterns, we could get on a session and discuss further.
