generally safe for short-term use, taking PPIs for a long time can lead to potential risks and side effects. Long-term use of PPIs should always be guided by a healthcare professional to weigh the benefits against the risks.
Next Steps
Consult with your doctor: It’s essential to discuss with your healthcare provider if you need to be on PPIs for an extended period. They may recommend the lowest effective dose or consider alternative treatments. • Regular Monitoring: If you’re on long-term PPI therapy, your doctor may periodically check for potential side effects, such as nutrient levels or kidney function. • Lifestyle Changes: Sometimes, lifestyle modifications, such as diet changes or weight loss, can help manage symptoms and reduce the need for PPIs.

At the most you can take PPIs for 2-3 months, not lifelong. It would be better to take a proper consultation and discuss further action of plan.

PPI can't be taken for life. It has its side effects. Please consult a Gastroenterologist for an Upper GI Endoscopy and further management.
