Machine readings may show deviation. In general at least 3 reading need to be taken to identify and start treatment for high blood pressure. 139/90 is on the higher side but does not require medication as such. But an appropriate assessment with more readings is necessary.
Kindly consult for a detailed discussion on how to assess it at home as well as to discuss medicated and non medicated control of blood pressure.
I assume you have been using the upper arm digital BP instrument to check your BP.
Ideally you should measure bp reading while sitting upright with your legs uncrossed, feet on the ground, back rested, and cuff at the level of the heart.Take 3 readings one minute apart , don't consider the first reading ,take average of the last 2 readings.Record morning and evening bp reading for 3 days .If bp reading is 135/85 or more on 3 or more occasions bp is confirmed.
Hi., I can understand your concern.
If you're having any headache or bodyache, recheck bp at nearby clinic. We can plan for medicine. Otherwise no need to worry.
