What you describe sounds like health anxiety -constant fear of a heart attack despite being safe-and now it has started appearing around your naps as well. Anxiety can sometimes trigger physical sensations (like chest tightness, racing heart, breathlessness) even during light sleep, which makes you wake up feeling panicked.
Next Steps
This is a common pattern in long-standing anxiety. Practicing relaxation before naps, keeping a consistent sleep schedule, and using grounding techniques can reduce such episodes. Counselling (especially CBT for health anxiety) is very effective in breaking this cycle of fear.
Health Tips
Since you've had anxiety for 5 years, it's important to combine lifestyle changes with therapy for lasting relief. Please rule out any heart condition once with a physician if not already done, but otherwise, this pattern is more anxiety-driven than dangerous.

Hi Hello, what you’re describing is anxiety linked with body sensations. When you doze off or nap, your body naturally shifts (heartbeat slows, breathing changes) and your anxious mind mistakes these changes as danger. This triggers panic-like feelings, even though nothing harmful is happening. It’s not a heart attack, it’s anxiety showing up in a new way. The key is learning to calm the body (deep breathing, grounding) and retrain the mind to not overreact to normal body signals. With therapy, especially CBT, you can break this loop and regain comfort with naps and sleep. Take therapy. You can connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.

What you are experiencing is anxiety, not a heart attack. Anxiety can create body sensations (like palpitations, chest tightness, or fear after naps) that feel scary, but they are not dangerous. At your age, the chance of heart attack is extremely low
Next Steps
Next Steps: • Meet a psychiatrist/psychologist for proper treatment and therapy. • Practice relaxation (deep breathing, meditation, yoga) daily. • Maintain good sleep habits and avoid excess caffeine.
Health Tips
Helpful Tip: Afternoon naps sometimes trigger anxiety because the mind suddenly switches from rest to alertness. Remind yourself it is harmless and will pass.
