Visited Dr. Dheeraj Shyam (Interventional Radiologist) For Embolization FNAC
Happy with: Doctor friendlinessExplanation of the health issueTreatment satisfactionValue for money
I am Asha VKR, a professor in an engineering college in Electronics and communication department. I was very hale and healthy. Recently took a selfie and found some swelling on my neck portion. I met few doctor friends in my circle who asked me to go meet a Radiologist for a scan and asked to have some blood tests done to see if my thyroid levels were normal. Later I happened to meet Dr. Dheeraj Shyam, Dr. Madhu Shri and Mr. Jagadeesh at Aster Whitefield.
They asked me to get an FNAC done (which was a painful one for me) to rule out malignancy. I was petrified for FNAC, but Dr. Dheeraj was very kind enough to explain the procedure, wait for the results of FNAC which by God’s grace I was benign also my Thyroid levels were normal. So, I was diagnosed as a patient dealing with multinodular goitre with retrosternal component.
Meanwhile my maternal uncle being a doctor himself advised for the non-surgical procedure i.e., Radio frequency ablation (RFA) I happened to meet several doctors in the last one month almost, I was advised to undergo complete thyroidectomy. Just like every other person on this earth I was also terrified by the name of surgery because it meant complete removal of my thyroid gland which ultimately meant I have to be on medication for rest of my life. I was advised to do FNAC before surgery and that's when I met Dr. Dheerajj Shyam, Dr. Madhushree and Mr. Jagadheesh.
I was accompanied with my husband who was certainly against to any more surgeries on my body. Doctors and their team understood my case, and made us understand the whole issue. They also suggested me that there's another non-surgical procedure i.e., Radio frequency ablation (RFA) and AVM that Dr. Dheeraj and team can do which will help me to preserve my thyroid gland and at the same time rule out the need for a major surgery which would leave a scare on my throat and neck for the rest of my life. Being in the type of profession I belong to I was really worried to even think of a visible scar, post op care and rest at this age of my life.
Dr. Dheeraj was really kind enough to speak to my uncle over phone and explain him about the whole procedure. I asked him silly and must say weird questions ⁉ because when everything seemed shocking and highly risky, it’s quite obvious to think and believe that there's still a hope (meaning of name-ASHA) that I don't need to under-go a major surgery.
I got admitted on Saturday 18th Jan 2025. I met Dr. Ram Prasad who was the anaesthetist in the OT. I am afraid of even a small needle prick, who now has undergone Arteriovenous malformation (AVM) Embolization level 1(sorry too much medical for me). All doctors around me in the OT were constantly checking every moment as to how was I responding during the operation. They asked me to talk every moment they felt there was a need. Sorry if I would have missed out on names those who were around me pacifying by moving their hands on my forehead to calm down.
Thanks to Dr. Madhushri who was so kind enough to take time out to video chat with my daughter to explain as to how I was doing post the procedure. My hand was constantly pressed by Dr. Madhushree ******** *** ********* *** ******* which made me feel that my own sister was with me around at this time of operation. I have heard about patient visits by doctors in many hospitals, but the visits which I had by the team of doc was really awesome, comforting and informative.
Mr. Jagadeesh was around us in handling all the pre op insurance, admission procedures. Just a call away he assisted us with even the CD of CT scan too. I was left with positive and upbeat attitude knowing I was under the eagle’s eye of one of the finest doctor’s team. Thankful to the whole staff and his coordinators. He was always available for us. You have loads to achieve keep up your good work.
Let me not forget to mention Dietician Ms. Chandana and her team who explained slightest of the query which we raised on the diet plan to be followed.
I should also complement the food in charge Mr. Santosh, and his team who served me hot Khichdi which is my favourite of all times. last but not least thanks to the canteen people at Aster Whitefield. Though I’m not a foodie but felt like staying back because of the food that was served.

* **** **** ******** ** ** ******* ** *** ******** ***** *** * After a particular surgery i have been discharged on 8th day based on standard POD procedure like Oral acceptance/ no constipation/ no fever. However due to a major post operative infection that has been found out by one of the Senior Dr in surgical department, when I visited for 3rd day review after my discharge from the hospital. Now let me comeback to Dr Dheeraj department - with a request letter from surgical department for Ultrasound, he tested and said this can’t be determined by Echo and called his assistant Jagdeesh to prepare for CT scan.
Jagdeesh prepared me with water consumption procedure and told us that CT will be done in 4 hrs time.
Very supportive- arranged a temporary bed for resting. He often visited and was checking the status. Then the time came for CT scan and that’s been done- results were forwarded to surgical department. Afterwards surgical team asked to perform a procedure.
Dr Dheeraj by the time went for a meeting and many assisting staff in CT left.
After he returned back he didn’t hesitate to stay back and he performed the procedure along with his assistant Jagdeesh. Such a good and cooperative personality is Dr Dheeraj and his assistant Jagdeesh!
He informed me that some liquid accumulated- now a bag is attached for bringing the liquid out and asked me to keep sending the photos of the liquid accumulation to take further steps.
Through the photos and based on the culture report surgical team asked me to take admission as IP.
After joining they started the IV for that particular bacteria.
Dr Dheeraj visited and checked me, though now the treatment is done by surgical team, Good is it not ?
5 days then they found that the situation was getting under control and discharged me again.
This particular process has taken over the original surgery and I even forgotten what for I went to that hospital initially. Now I’m completely attached to Dr Dheeraj and he/ his assistant were following up about the improvement.
Then the procedure of withdrawal of the tube and bag started- every alternative days 1 cm the tube pulled out - this procedure involves removing of old stitches, local anaesthesia, pulling the tube, fresh stitches. This procedure performed every alternative days. They used to take extreme care and extended all possible support- supportive words, patting me and telling “nothing to worry you will become alright”
Few things I should highlight- one day there was a heavy rush and many cases were going on, our turn was getting delayed, at least 5 to 6 times Dr Dheeraj and his assistant Jagdeesh used to visit us and keep saying “ sorry too many cases kindly bear with us” a very gentle and down to earth behaviour I could say!!
Another incident was after a particular day’s tube pull out we came back home and next day morning a small puss like leak we found and next day went and met Dr Dheeraj, by seeing that he asked me to go immediately to CT room and said “am coming in few minutes..” so positive is it not ??
He came, tested through CT and removed the dressing, and then said we almost pulled the tube, now that tube is touching the muscle and this puss is from the top skin layer and then he suggested that it’s better to remove everything and asked my concurrence, I said that I have 100% faith on him and requested to proceed.
That day was a big relief.
In this entire one month or so procedure- His team gave ultimate support that includes taking care of changing my dress, assisting on my every movement. Not like a medical team but I felt like I have friends standing all along with me in the whole procedure. They stood by me, patted me , explaining each and everything, very supportive, made me to feel like I’m surrounded by my family. What else one can expect more than this ?
Thanks dear Dr Dheeraj- God bless you.
Thanks dear Jagdeesh- God bless you.
Visited Dr. Kumardev Arvind Rajamanya (Orthopedic surgeon) For Orthopedic Surgery
Happy with: Explanation of the health issueTreatment satisfaction
My mom had a fall and femur bone fracture in March 2022. She has having osteoporosis and so her bone health was not in good shape. Sha had a fall while walking in the campus where we stay. Looking at her condition we were worried that the fracture is of very bad type.
Anyways we called the ambulance and took her to the hospital.
The nearest hospital was Manipal Whitefield (Near ITPL/ Opp Prestige Shantiniketan Mall)) and we were there in emergency in under 20 minutes. There the doctors immediately took her inside and after scans confirmed the fracture. Now it was a complicated one as she was 72 years old and her bone health was bad as well. The emergency doctor directed us to Dr Kumardev Arvind Rajamanya in OPD whom I met with the scan report and he explained the surgery process and how he is going to treat her. One thing I have to add here is that mom's accident was on a weekend and on Sundays you have very few doctors who attend to surgeries. Anyways given my mom's condition Dr Kumardev took decision to do the surgery on Sunday itself and got her moved to inpatient from emergency. Surgery was long - almost 6 hours, and it was successful. Post surgery mom had to go through a elaborate physiotherapy plan. Very happy to state that after 6 months of surgery and rehab my mom was able to walk independently. It took time given her state but throughout this journey Dr Kumardev and his team has been extremely supportive and helped me through all queries. The doctor even shared his contact details and allowed me to reach out to him for immediate queries. Who does this in today's world?
Overall I am thankful to God that I took the decision to take my mom to Manipal Whitefield and luckily met Dr Kumardev. Thankfully my mom is back on her feet and is totally independent like she was before.

In case health issues , even if we don't know where to go is also ok, but we should know where we should not go!!
Visited Dr Kumardev Arvind Rajamanya on 6th March 2022 for knee replacement surgery for 73 years old person. Both knees surgery is done with single admit. He is reachable over mobile messages, and himself suggest/explain how to keep clean with sanitizer, then after couple of minutes minuets he will double check the attendant whether following or not :) . ex: touch the patient after rubbing the hands with sanitizer.
His follow-up with patient is excellent until recovery along with physiotherapy. until unless its required He will not suggest/ask to come to meet him.
some one can visit Dr Kumardev Arvind Rajamanya blindly for replacement surgery without any 2nd thought.
Note: after visiting this doctor don't visit any other doctor for 2nd opinion (as i did, wasted consultation money with other) . until unless experience we will not come to know, but this is what happened in case of my mother-in-law surgery.
Now relief after surgery is excellent . VISIT THIS DCOTOR TO SAVE TIME, MONEY AND TO GET GOOD HEATHY LIFE AFTER SURGERY.
