A Necessity or a Luxury?
Graphology or commonly referred to as a handwriting analysis is a subject that has always been looked at from a cliched perspective of analyzing the personality of another individual. Experts say the results of handwriting analysis are only 85 to 95% true. And this percentage is heavily dependent on the analyst's skill, knowledge, and understanding of the human psyche. To add to the complexity, handwritings change along with the mood of the individual and a relatively small sample can be misleading at times.
The above-mentioned perspective of graphology has earned graphology the title of a pseudo-science or an occult science.
One of the most important areas in which graphology helps us is often an overseen and unspoken one-self-reflection. Self-reflection happens to be the mother of all therapies and psychological treatments. Change in a personality is almost impossible without self-reflection.
The ego that comes along with the man is a necessity but also one of the biggest barriers to self-reflection. In today's fast-paced world, people don't have the time nor the ability to see themselves in the mirror that reflects their inner self.
Personality traits set decades ago never change and the personality becomes stagnant and growth becomes a 'once in a blue moon' phenomenon if not ever. Unless and until a traumatic or depressive experience occurs, the human mind doesn't find the need for self-reflection. In such scenarios, the person can expect no growth.
Handwriting analysis, when seen from the perspective of self-reflection, is one of the best tools. It acts as an instant mirror and prints the subconscious mind onto the paper. The writer can see himself, the way he sees others. And we have always seen that the problem of another looks silly and easy to overcome but when we confront the same problem, it doesn't look as easy as it initially appeared. Thanks to the ego within us.
Graphologists must also be careful when they analyze their own handwriting. Because being a graphologist and writing consciously can yet again give a deceptive picture. But, in this case. The graphologist himself knows best his level of consciousness on the style of his handwriting.
If such a subject is made mandatory for youngsters who are in college. Parenting would have never received stronger support. At an age when the personality itself is in turbulence coupled with defiance and resistance. Graphology can be one of the best ways to guide and nurture the personality.
It is said that awareness is power. Even the knowledge of the existence of an undesirable personality trait is a step towards change. Many times people get into a phase where they feel that the world is at fault with everything that's happening to them. A self-reflector always knows that everything that happens around him is a consequence of him.
Self-realization is always more powerful than external intervention. For e.g, there is a greater and more pronounced probability for change when a person himself realizes that he/she is depressed than when an external aid tells him/her that he/she is depressed. The ego steps in when someone points a finger at us. But, when we point a finger at ourselves, the chances of improvement increase exponentially.
Even a small scribble on a piece of paper can be a big indicator; small snippets of text that we write down-everything indicates something- And at the end of the day. When the analyst puts on the spectacles of a graphologist. He can take a look at himself and make the necessary tweaks that he wants in his personality through Grapho-therapy, tweaks being made one at a time. Slowly and steadily while maintaining the originality of the personality and not drastically changing it.
The knowledge of a such a powerful subject when taught to everyone, especially youngsters can be a powerful phenomenon. Every self-help book, every trainer and motivator can gain tremendous results from their work. Because, no technique, no book and no one can self reflect apart from the self.
