I think an important task for doctors in contemporary healthcare delivery is not only to render professional care but also educating individuals, families and society at large that they ought to prepare themselves for the cost of healthcare. Only a few individuals would be lucky to have free healthcare during their lean patches of life. Most others would need some form of backup. Health insurance - whether government, company or privately procured seems to be one such way.
