All  ear blocks are not due to wax

Wax is nothing but secretion of modified sweat glands mixed with desquamated epithelial cells and keratin shed from tympanic membrane

It  has protective function of lubricating ear canal & entraps any foreign body

Normally only a small amount of wax is secreted, which dries up and later expelled from the meatus by movements  of jaw.

Then how is wax retained?

Just like some people sweat more than others the activity of ceruminous glands also varies and excessive wax may be secreted and deposited as a plugin meatus .

Symptoms: ---impairment of hearing, blocked sensation ,giddiness ,tinnitus & reflex cough

What can be used as wax softeners

5% soda bicarb in equal parts of glycerine and water instilled two (or) three times a day for 7-10 days Hydrogen peroxide

Liquid Paraffin

Do not try to remove by self or use buds which will further push wax posteriorly & it gets impacted
