Plenty of oral liquids predominantly water goes a long way in preventing stone formation. Water intake on an average should be about 2 to 2.5 liters a day, distributed uniformly throughout the day. One should take a balanced diet avoiding excess of any food elements and try not skipping or avoiding any food. 

Fluid intake - Adequate quantity, distributed uniformly throughout the day
             Aim - To keep urine output at least 1.5 litres per day.
            Type - Predominantly water, followed by barley water or yoghurt.
                     - Freshly squeezed oranges or lemons, juices made from the same, green tea and wine.
                     - Completely avoid soft drinks / aerated drinks.
                     - Avoid other fruit juices; instead eat fruits.

Adequate consumption of fruit and vegetable.

Avoid excess of or skipping of any dietary element.
Adequately treat any urinary infection.
