It is a dream of possibly every human being on earth to have a lustrous mane of hair. Most of you unknowingly do certain things that damage your hair beyond repair. That’s when problems such as hair fall, hair thinning or dandruff start popping up.

It is important that you take good care and avoid these common mistakes that can harm your hair. Know them before it's too late.

6 Common Mistakes That Can Damage Your Hair:

1. Washing Your Hair Too Often

Washing your hair too often or overwashing your hair can cause damage and dry out your hair. It can make your strands look dull and lifeless.

It is important to understand your hair type and find a balance that works for your hair and scalp. This will help in balancing the moisture levels and in keeping your hair squeaky clean.

2. Brushing Your Wet Hair

Brushing your wet hair is a big no. When the hair is wet the scalp easily lets go of the hair and by brushing wet hair you would break the strands.

Make sure that you let your hair air dry and comb it only once it's completely dry. It can damage the hair follicles eventually pulling out the hair.

3. Blow Drying

Drying your hair frequently with a dryer, can cause irreparable damage to your hair and hence it is better to avoid the use of a dryer or other heat tools, as much as possible.

It is best to towel dry your hair gently or to keep your hair wrapped in a soft and clean towel for some time for drying it naturally. Also if you are using other heat styling tools make sure that you use a heat protectant and that you do an appropriate temperature setting.

4. Using Too Much Product

You should be aware of the number of hair products to be used. Using too much product can lead to greasy and limp locks. The optimal amount of product should be roughly the size of a one rupee coin.

Using excess products can lead to product build-up that can cause other problems such as dandruff and hair fall. In such cases, you can use a clarifying shampoo to clean your scalp.

5. Avoiding Hair Conditioner

Keeping your hair moisturized with a good quality conditioner is necessary to keep your locks moisturized. Not using a conditioner, especially when your hair is constantly subjected to outside pollution every day can make your hair extremely dull and damaged.

Therefore make sure to use a good conditioner every time you wash your hair, to nourish your locks. Also while applying conditioner, use it only on the hair ends and not on the scalp.

6. Not Trimming Your Hair

Hair experts suggest that your hair should be trimmed every 12 to 15 weeks to maintain the health of your hair. Regular trimming will help remove the damaged and split ends of the hair and will also help your hair grow faster and healthier.

Take care of your hair in a patient and regular manner and show off those shining tresses!
