Hello... Usually the root canal treatment is not preferred for wisdom teeth unless in some situations like when it has to serve as an abutment ( support) for the adjacent missing teeth etc... When wisdom teeth are with deep caries causing pain or have erupted in a different position posing a problem for the adjacent teeth (impaction), they are usually extracted instead of saving as it's the best permanent solution... moreover after root canal treatment, there will be no pain... In ur case, clinical correlation is a must with a diagnostic x-ray...so please reconsult ur doctor for the needful...
Next Steps
intraoral periapical radiograph
OPG x-ray ( to look for the problem in other teeth as u mentioned swelling in the jaws)
Health Tips
clinical correlation

Generally it’s better to extract wisdom tooth if it is giving trouble. You can contact dentist . He may give you antibiotics or ask for extraction or scaling after taking x ray
