Wisdom tooth
Good afternoon sir/madam I have got wisdom tooth n s in not proper position.. I had consulted dentist but then I had no pain.. So sir said to leave as of now because the surgery may loosen other teeth.. but now I get pain now and then.. And the same side of wisdom teeth (i.e.,left side) I always have felt that my face s little swollen.. Is it becoz of wisdom teeth?? Will the extraction of wisdom teeth cause asymmetry of face? Am confused whether to get it removed or leave it like that.. please help

There's no confusion on getting a surgical procedure done. No other option. After that, you'll be advised to let the tissue relax for at least 48-72 hours so the treatment area is allowed to clot. After that, you should be able to return to normal physical activity. The soft tissue will usually fully heal in about 3-4 weeks. Good luck!
Next Steps
Go and see an experienced doctor for this.
Health Tips
Avoid smoking and alcohol for 24 hours as this can encourage bleeding. Do NOT rinse your mouth for 24 hours after extraction or disturb the socket as this may cause bleeding again.

Some degree of asymmetry in face is quite normal. It has nothing to do with your wisdom tooth. But if you notice swelling, pain or tenderness, it's most probably due to the tooth in question. ALSO, no, extracting a tooth doesn't loosen other teeth. Please do not pay heed to such misconceptions. Go to a licensed dentist for your extraction. Do not worry at all. From your OPG, I can see that it's a horizontal impaction. If it's bothering you, get it removed. It'll be a surgical extraction because of the tooth's  position in your jaw. Go to an OMFS surgeon. You'll be in good hands.

Swelling on left side may be due to horizontally placed wisdom tooth...I would recommend to extract that  tooth, it won't cause any asymmetry of face. Its not going to erupt like normal tooth so it's better to get it out.You should expect some swelling and difficulty in opening mouth and restricted diet for few days after tooth removal as it would be minor surgery. So plan ur schedule accordingly. If you have any further query do let me knw.

Hello Your full mouth X ray clearly shows that the left side lower wisdom tooth is completely horizontally impacted and it will definitely have an effect on the adjacent tooth and also the upper wisdom tooth on the same side is distally impacted that can lead to cheekbite and that can be the reason of the swelling that you feel now and then on the left side. You will have to get both these upper and lower wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible. You might take some medicines or antibiotics for the time being but they will only give a transient relief and if the problem occurs again and again then extraction is the only option. Wisdom tooth extraction will definitely not at all lead to any kind of asymmetry in the face. You will be absolutely normal within 7 days to perform your daily routine activities. You need to visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and get it treated.

Hii .. Good morning ... Extraction of wisdom tooth does not cause any asymmetry ... As it's horizontally impacted & creating pressure , extraction is d only solution for this ... N necessary also... Neither surgical extraction of this tooth causes any looseness of any teeth ...  See , wisdom tooth generally not erupt in right position due to lack of space... Generally extraction is d only solution for this... Kindly go to your dentist and complete the treatment there is nothing to worry at all... It's just a minor surgical procedure ...

Hello, Your wisdom tooth hasn't erupted fully due to lack of space in your jaw. I would suggest to get it removed as it may cause you problems in the future. It is always advisable to get your wisdom teeth removed as it doesn't serve any purpose, it doesn't help you in chewing. It might cause more problems than good. For example, the swelling you have could be due to cheek biting or food lodgement leading to infection. Plan ahead for the removal such that you can take a couple of days off from your work. Schedule an appointment with a specialist Oral surgeon and get it removed. It is a routine dental procedure with minimal complications. Nothing to be worried about. Take care.
