A 25-OH Vitamin-D level of 3 ng/ ml is an Extremely severe Deficiency that indicating your body has almost no stored Vitamin D requires immediate Medical Attention ..
Normal level is considered above 30 ng/ ml
Interpretation =
Vitamin D to help absorption of Calcium and
Phosphorus which keeps your bones strong.
Severe Deficiency caused inadequate obsorption
Of Calcium lead to bone pain weakness and increased risk of Fracture.
Investigation Required =
Serum Calcium
Parathyroid Hormone level.
TREATMENT =
Calcirol Sachet 60000 IU ( Cholecalciferol-D3)
1 SACHET/week for 12 weeks
Vitamin d<3 is significantly very low,you may need injection form of vitamin d initially, followed by weekly once vitamin d 60000 iu for atleast 12 weeks.Milk and other dairy products are good source of vitamin d
Your 25-OH vitamin D level is severely low and needs medical correction, not diet alone.
I would confirm the report, review calcium/kidney function and symptoms, and choose an appropriate replacement course.
Include safe sunlight and vitamin-D-rich foods, but do not self-start high-dose supplements.
Book a Practo consultation with me so I can review the report and plan follow-up testing.

A 25-OH vitamin D level below 3 ng/mL indicates severe vitamin D deficiency. Vegetarian foods generally provide only small amounts of vitamin D. Useful sources include vitamin-D-fortified milk or plant-based milk, fortified cereals, and UV-exposed mushrooms. Adequate sunlight exposure may also help.
However, with a level this low, dietary sources alone are usually insufficient, and vitamin D supplementation is generally required. Please consult a doctor for an appropriate replacement dose and follow-up, especially if you have kidney, liver, parathyroid or calcium-related problems.
You need to take inj of vit d3 followed by oral doses
Dietary intake can help maintain the levels after correction but cannot correct them
Still in vegetarian diet only mushrooms and tofu can offer some amount of vit d
A vitamin D level this low needs proper correction, and diet alone usually isn't enough to bring it up quickly.
Next Steps
Sunlight for 15 to 20 minutes daily along with vitamin D rich vegetarian foods like mushrooms, fortified milk, and paneer can help, but please get the exact supplement dose from your doctor rather than self treating.
