Seems like you got your toe fractured and there can be a ligament injury/muscle pull in your knee. Get an x-ray done.If there is a fracture, consult an orthopaedician  otherwise go to a physiotherapist for proper treatment. This the only solution.
Next Steps
Go to a physiotherapist.. Wax therapy and some exercises will help in toe pain. IFT+US+ heating therapy+strenthening exercises will be helpful in knee.
Health Tips
At home take rest, do ice pack+apply some pain. Killer gel+avoid weight bearing on affected foot.

Hello there,,,,well by the history you gave...this very well does look like a case of ligament injury to the knee and strain or bony injury to the toe. Most of the ligament injury to the knee does take place while abruptly twisting the knee in force while feet on ground.
Next Steps
please do xray of left foot in AP,Lat and knee in AP lat position...MRI for knee can also be recommended as soft tissue injuries are not appreceated on xrays.
Health Tips
your pain may decrease with painkiller but if at all you have a ligament injury and you bear weight on that leg it might worsen the condition...so get yourself examined right away...or do resort back if you have any doubts.
