I am suffering from social anxiety disorder.
Whenever I face social situations Like asking questions in classroom, Talking to strangers or girls, In cafeteria, In a marriage party, In interview, public places,Even playing outdoor games...And so on...My heart rate becomes very high & my face expression becomes very confused and I can't control myself and later feels very bad. Also my memory nowadays is very weak and i can't concentrate in studies.
And because of that I always avoid these type of situations which is affecting my career very badly.
Earlier I thought that i am introvert, shy, very emotional and very sensitive so that it is happening with me and i accepted that and assumed that always I will be like that.
But now I am thinking is it treatable ?
If yes what is chances that i will become like all other people who live life fearlessly.
In delhi where i can find good psychologist or psychiatrist also i am student and my budget is very little. What should i do now Please help me...

Hello practo user
I can understand the difficult situation that you are currently facing in your life . Social anxiety symptoms can be distressing and can cause increased heart rate and associated problems of memory . It is advisable that you try and spend time talking to your close family members and friends to slowly build your confidence . Try and practice deep breathing every time you feel your heart rate increasing . You can also maintain a healthy lifestyle . It is suggested that you seek help from a clinical psychologist for an in-depth understand of your case and formulation of a personalized treatment program through regular psychotherapy sessions which will be beneficial. You can also get in touch with me through the practo app for any further help or guidance .
Next Steps
consult a clinical psychologist

Hello,
From the conditions that you’ve described it does appear that you are suffering from social anxiety. Social anxiety can often get quite debilitating causing restrictions and limitations in everyday life. Severe anxiety often puts excess load on one’s attention, thereby seemingly causing memory problems. It is possible that you’re so overwhelmed by anxiety that you’re unable to pay full attention while studying or doing important work, and hence feeling forgetful. However social anxiety is treatable with psychotherapy and/or medication (esp if anxiety is too severe). You will be able to live your life to its full potential. Introverts aren’t necessarily anxious or shy. They tend to feel more fulfilled around people with whom they share interests. So even if you’re an introvert, that doesn’t imply in any way that you should be anxious or fearful.
Next Steps
Consult a clinical psychologist or therapist. You can look for therapists in your area in Delhi. Most are listed. You can also consult one online on portals like Practo and proceed accordingly.
