Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
I understand your concern â having a fast pulse can be worrying, especially when it rises with simple activities like walking, but in many cases it can be related to anxiety, low fitness levels, or temporary causes like dehydration.
â Advices
⢠Stay well-hydrated and include electrolyte-rich fluids, especially in hot weather.
⢠Avoid excess caffeine, smoking, and alcohol as these can increase heart rate.
⢠Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation â stress can keep pulse high.
ð What to Monitor
⢠Check if your resting heart rate remains consistently above 100 bpm.
⢠Note symptoms like dizziness, chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations.
⢠Keep a record of your heart rate at different times of the day for a few days.
ð Management
Occasional rise in heart rate with mild activity is common, but since your resting rate is on the higher side (normal resting pulse is 60â90 bpm), it is advisable to get evaluated.
A doctor may recommend simple tests like:
ECG, echocardiography, or thyroid profile.
Complete blood count (to rule out anemia).
ð¨ When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
⢠If you develop chest pain, pressure, or tightness.
⢠If you feel faint, dizzy, or breathless with palpitations.
⢠If your resting heart rate stays consistently above 110 bpm.
âï¸ Every case of fast pulse has a different cause â from stress and anemia to thyroid or heart rhythm issues â so itâs important to identify the exact reason in your case.
ð You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation.
I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where youâll receive:
âï¸ A detailed evaluation of your pulse rate and reports
âï¸ Personalized treatment plan if needed
âï¸ Regular follow-ups to ensure your heart health is well managed
Take care, wishing you good health.
Best regards,
Dr. Romain Rajan

Resting pulse of 95-100 bpm is slightly high and can increase further with stress, anxiety, caffeine, or lack of sleep.
An increase to 110-120 bpm on walking and then settling back is normal, but if it stays persistently high, evaluation may be needed.

Next Steps
Consult with doctor Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG): To record the heart's electrical activity.
