The wisdom tooth is cutting through the gum. However due to lack of space in the jaw, it has only partially erupted. The gum has an opening which collects the food you eat. This causes bacteria to grow and lead to pain and swelling. You need to visit a dentist for xray and then take a considered decision to keep it or remove it based on your clinical examination and xray. Meanwhile, do warm saline rinses after every meal. Take OtC painkiller to relieve your pain and reduce inflammation and seek an appointment with a dentist.

This is a case of Pericoronitis which means your wisdom tooth is erupting which is irritating the surrounding gums and causing pain and discomfort. By looking at the picture it seems that it is eruoting in an upright manner, you must get an OPG done, which will confirm the path of eruption of the tooth. If it is erupting in a comfortable, upright path then Operculectomy can be done, which means removal of the surrounding gums to ease the eruption process.
Next Steps
Visit a dentist and get a thorough examination done .

Pericoronitis is an inflammation of the gum tissue around a partially erupted tooth, often seen in relation to wisdom teeth. If you suspect you have pericoronitis, it's important to consult with a dental professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. They will evaluate your specific condition and determine the best course of action. Treatment options for pericoronitis may include: Antibiotics: If there is an infection present, your dentist may prescribe antibiotics to help control the infection and reduce inflammation. Warm saline rinses: Gently rinsing your mouth with warm saltwater can help alleviate discomfort and reduce inflammation. Mix half a teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water and rinse several times a day. Oral hygiene practices: Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential. Your dentist may recommend gently brushing the affected area and keeping it clean to prevent further irritation. Pain management: Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help manage pain and reduce inflammation. Follow the instructions and consult with a healthcare professional if needed. Dental referral: In some cases, if the pericoronitis is recurrent or severe, your dentist may recommend the removal of the affected tooth or a surgical procedure to alleviate the condition. Remember, these treatment options are general suggestions and may vary depending on the severity and specific circumstances of your pericoronitis. It's important to consult with a dental professional who can provide a personalized assessment and recommend the most appropriate treatment for your case.

You are having pericoronitis. Maintain oral hygiene. Warm saline rinses thrice a day. Betadine mouthwash for rinsing (if not allergic to Betadine). Visit a local dentist for physical evaluation and treatment (if required).
