Hi , I have started taking vitamin c , vitamin D and a multivitamin supplement. I want to start taking calcium supplements and collagen supplements . Can we take collagen supplements for 6 months and stop after that ? Will that affect the skin and hair ? Similarly , do we need a take a break from any other supplements as well ?

Taking calcium and collagen supplements over time can be safe, but it is important to assess if your body still requires them after a few months. Collagen supplements do not necessarily require breaks, but make sure your diet is rich in collagen-building ingredients such as protein, vitamin C and zinc. Calcium supplements should be taken according to individual needs, and too much calcium might cause kidney problems, so see a healthcare provider before continuing for a long time. Likewise, also periodically check for your vitamin D levels to avoid any toxicity due to excess consumption.

You can take collagen supplements for 6 months and then stop. After stopping, skin and hair might slowly lose some benefits, but no sudden changes. Collagen helps keep skin elastic and hair strong, so regular use is helpful. It’s safe to take collagen for a long time, but taking a break sometimes is okay. Calcium supplements are important, especially in winter, to keep bones strong. Vitamin D is needed in winter for healthy bones and a strong immune system, so it’s good to take it regularly. Multivitamins can be taken daily, but if your diet improves, you can take a break sometimes. It's important to adjust your supplements based on your needs and how you feel.

Hi Good afternoon! Have you done blood tests before taking these supplements? The supplement dosage and duration depends on the test values. Since you are taking vitamin C, D and a multivitamin, the daily dosage may be higher than what you need. You can take collagen supplements, may be for 3 months and see. But if the underlying mg issue is with day iron, B12 or other micronutrients, taking collagen supplement alone wouldn’t help.
