I had a surgery for ovarian chocolate cyst nine months back. For six months I took Visanne. Now I have started taking Dronis. This Dronis seems to have caused loss of appetite. Can I stop taking it? Or is there any other medicine that can be tried? Does endometriosis mean taking OCP forever?

You can switch over to other OCP like Yaz or freedase after completing this cycle with dronis.
Symptoms you are describing are quite normal and should disappear with continued use.
OCP are prescribed for a period of time and not forever in endometriosis.

Yaz is best, ocp in my experience, with no side effects, start yaz from day 1 of period ,and take for 28 days, and restart from 29 th day again, take at fixed time, don't miss any pill.
It is not necessary that it go for long period .If u feel uncomfortable with Drosis than change ur prescription under doctor guidance along with this u concentrate on diet , meditation, yoga
If you are uncomfortable with Dronis, change preparation after this cycle is completed. You require regular Ultrasound and follow up but medication not required lifelong
Hi, You can switch over to Tab Dinogest , if dronis is causing side effects. Get ultrasound done every 6 months to look for latest status of endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a progressive and recurrent problem. You will have to take some form of medicine to keep the disease at hold.
Please don't Stop dronis in between.
Next Steps
consult your gynaecologist for further treatment options
Health Tips
plan your family in time. disease will be suppressed for that period
Options for treatment for endometroosis are removal of the chocolate cyst . Dinoegest or Dronis which is also an oral contraceptive. Dronis can be taken at bedtime to prevent nausea. and gastric upset. If cyst are there better to get them removed as they cause adhesions and more painand may lead to fertility issues.
Hiiiiiiii, please don't stop Dronis all of a sudden, until the pack gets completed. If you do so, you will get withdrawal bleeding. So, please continue for this month course.
You can switch to other ocp in the next cycle
Continue this cycle with dronis coz ocps should not be stopped in between the cycle abruptly
You need not take ocps for lifetime they are for prescribed period only
U can switch to another ocp
Namely femilon or Loette after the pack of dronis is over
Yes generally ocp needs to be taken till u plan pregnancy to prevent recurrance
Please continue Dronis in this cycle. It can be changed to other preparation after completing the cycle.
You can take either Visanne or any other brand which your doctor prescribes.
And endometriosis doesn’t mean taking Ocp forever.
Please discuss about your future plans about your pregnancy with your doctor and she would advice uou accordingly.
Endometriosis might affect your fertility so take decisions keeping that in mind.
Don't stop dronis in this cycle you can change pill in next cycle (freedase)
Do follow up ultrasound
Complete your family (need to stop oc pills under supervision (gynaecologist).
Pls dont stop the hormone prescribed. You can switch to progesterones if at all it is difficult to accept. Hormone is not put forever. Once you conceive it would help you.
Every OCP has some side effect.... but it is beneficial to take it to prevent relapse..... gold treatment is laparoscopic excision of endometriotic cyst....
Oral contraceptives like dronis give some symptoms like what you have. But they usually go away with persistent use.
If you are not comfortable you can also opt for injectable progesterone like depo provera. This injection has to be taken every 3 months.
That is also an option which is more comfortable than taking a tablet daily.
You should also think of conceiving soon if you are married. The pregnancy will also give you relief for sometime plus if you have endometriosis, you may have trouble conceiving. Try on your own naturally for 6 months, but if pregnancy doesn't happen, consult a gynaecologist.
Plan ur pregancy
Some Ocps you will require further
Change dronis with other latest ocp
Freedase has minimal dose with latest progesterone for endometriosis
You can stop taking dronis after completing the present pack and then you can restart visanne, that is better than ocps for preventing the recurrence of endometriosis.
If you are not ok with dronis you can consult and take different brand of contraceptive pills or visanne.complete current pack of dronis and then shift to another.
Next Steps
plan pregnancy early
Health Tips
To prevent recurrence it is better to take some medicine to suppress chocolate cyst.
Chocolate cysts are recurrent, so OCPs or visanne or other treatments are to be taken to prevent recurrence .
Don't stop Dronis abruptly, complete the pack .
Get a scan on day 2 - 3 of periods , then u cn consult ur doctor to change ur medicine if u are unable to tolerate it .
Next Steps
Don't stop abruptly.
Other treatment options cn be discussed in person with a gynecologist.
your doctor can plan things best for you if u discuss ur problem.
Health Tips
try taking dronis half an hour after meals at night with milk .
You should complete the dronis for this cycle. Don’t stop dronis mid cycle As it will cause the bleeding in between the cycle.
Next Steps
You can get a scan done to see if there is recurrence of the cyst and then review with the reports with gynaecologist and then further medication can be started.
Health Tips
Try to take dronis in the night after dinner to prevent nausea
1. You can starr taking Visanne (it contains dienogest) as well, as you were talking it before and it is well tolerated..it will do the same ..to prevent recurrence.
2. Plan your pregnancy (if you are married) as soon as possible, before endometriosis recurrence.
Taking medication prevents recurrence of chochlate cysts
Chochlate cysts are progressive and recurrent
But if you cannot tolerate dronis there are other brands of oral contraception pills with different medications that you may be tolerant
If you are married it is advisable that you do not postpone pregnancy
