Hello,
Firstly, as you said your father's BP reading are mostly the same of 150/90, I suggest for one week, monitor and record his BP reading atleast 2 to 3 times a day, make sure you do it using correct method to avoid unreliable values, then report them to a general physician or practioner.
Secondly, as he is diabetic and also dyslipidemic, is he taking regular medication for it? If yes, make sure to have his blood sugar and Cholestrol levels monitored every 3 months, if not on regular medications, I would suggest you to immediately go on for a new set of investigation for the same.
Having chronic Uncontrolled hypertension, Diabetes and dyslipidemia can pose signignifact long term complication, starting from the heart (Ishecmic heart disease), eyes (diabetic or hypersynsive retinopathy), Kidneys (chronic kidney disease), brain (stroke) and even nervous system (peripheral vascular disease, autonomic neuropathies).
Next Steps
- Consult a general physician or practioner nearby.
You can also connect with me on practo or via call/ WhatsApp (915093049eight) for guidance.
- Consult an ophthalmologist/ eye doctor for an eye (fundus) examination to look for any hypertensive or diabetic changes in the retina.

If any time readings go more than 180 above or more than 120 below, immediately consult in a nearby clinic or hospital.
Also monitor blood sugar levels before and two hour after food intake, any time the reading randomly too are more than 250 to 300mg/dl go for an immediate visit to hospital or clinic.
- Any time if there are any symptoms of:- Sudden headache, nausea or vomiting, fainting eiposde or dizziness, difficulting using arms legs, weakness felt or loss of sensation in the arms, legs or face, chest pain, it radiating to neck, Jaw, left arm and hand, significant heart burn, difficulty breating, significant indigestion, irregular heart beat, sweating, reduced urine output, swelling in feet, irrespective of the BP reading immediately consult a nearby clinic or hospital.
- Based on the recent investigations, appropriate treatment will be given, but the patient should also start with life style modification in term of change in diet by avoiding high carbohydrate, oily and high salt food. Go for hight fibre diet, food rich in complex carbohydrates, limited salt intake to less than 1 to 1.5 teaspoons per day.
Go for regular exercise even as walking for minimum 30 to 45 mins a day atleast 5 times a week.
Take care
Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
I understand your concern â consistently high blood pressure, especially in someone with diabetes and cholesterol issues, can increase the risk of heart and kidney problems if left untreated
â Advices
⢠Encourage him to monitor his blood pressure daily and keep a log to show the doctor
⢠Adopt lifestyle changes such as reducing salt intake, avoiding processed foods, walking or light exercise daily, maintaining a healthy weight, and managing stress
⢠Limit alcohol and avoid smoking if applicable
What to Monitor
⢠Watch for symptoms like headache, dizziness, blurred vision, chest pain, or shortness of breath
⢠Mild warning signs include occasional fatigue or swelling in feet
Managment
High blood pressure in the presence of diabetes and cholesterol usually requires medical management with anti-hypertensive medications. Lifestyle changes alone are often insufficient to bring it under control. Please do not start or stop medications without consulting a doctor
When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
⢠Severe headache, chest pain, palpitations, or shortness of breath
⢠Sudden weakness, numbness, or difficulty speaking
⢠Very high blood pressure readings (for example above 180/120) or persistent readings above 160/100 despite lifestyle measures
Every patientâs situation is unique. For accurate diagnosis and lasting control, itâs important to discuss your fatherâs full medical history and current health in detail

Your father’s BP (150/90) is consistently high and needs attention, especially since he already has diabetes and high cholesterol. Uncontrolled BP increases risk of heart, kidney, and eye complications. He should visit a doctor soon for proper evaluation and start of antihypertensive medicine if needed. Meanwhile, limit salt intake, exercise regularly, avoid stress, and monitor BP twice weekly.
