Using propranolol + atenelol which both of them belong to betablockers may cause lowering of blood pressure and low heart rate .and due to the low bp the person might become more irritable.please provide proper history why u are prescribed both propranolol and atenelol are prescribed at 36 years of age itself.using the propranolol+ atenelol same category lead to more lowering of bp .kindly change to other antihtn like ace inhibitor or arb drugs along with one betablockers.
Next Steps
betablockers are used only in resistant htn

Do not stop beta-blocker abruptly (risk of rebound hypertension/tachycardia). Review indication for beta-blocker (young female, essential HTN? anxiety component?) Consider switching to a non-beta-blocker antihypertensive: ACE inhibitor / ARB Calcium channel blocker (e.g., cilindipine amlodipine) Screen for: Anxiety disorder / stress / sleep issues Thyroid dysfunction (esp. in young females)
Next Steps
change in antihtn with tapering beta blockers

Atenolol and Propranolol, both belong to the same group. Please consult a General Physician for a physical examination and rationalization of the treatment so that you don't have side effects of the medicine.

Both Propranolol 40 mg and Atenolol 25 mg are beta-blockers. While they control BP and heart rate, they can sometimes cause: • Irritability • Mood changes • Fatigue • Low energy • Sleep disturbance • Mild depressive symptoms Propranolol (being more lipophilic) crosses the blood–brain barrier more than atenolol and is more likely to cause central mood effects. If irritability increased after starting these medicines, it may be: ✔ Drug-related mood side effect ✔ Fatigue-induced frustration ✔ Underlying anxiety being masked but emotional tolerance reduced This is not dangerous, but it affects quality of life and should be addressed.
Next Steps
Step 1: Do NOT stop suddenly Abrupt withdrawal can cause: • Rebound hypertension • Tachycardia Step 2: Discuss medication adjustment with doctor Options usually include: ✔ Switch to ARB (e.g., telmisartan) ✔ Switch to ACE inhibitor ✔ Use calcium channel blocker (e.g., amlodipine) ✔ Lower dose if possible Beta blockers are not first-line for simple hypertension unless there is: • Angina • Previous heart attack • Arrhythmia If BP control is needed without cardiac indication, another class may be better tolerated.
Health Tips
• Monitor BP for 5–7 days before change • Check pulse (if

Hello. Thank you for sharing detailed information. Based on the history you have mentioned, irritability, increased anger, and sensitivity to sound or smell can sometimes be seen in patients with chronic migraine. These symptoms may also get influenced by certain medications, stress levels, sleep disturbance, or anxiety-related factors. Propranolol is commonly used for blood pressure control and migraine prevention, but in some individuals it may cause mood changes, fatigue, or irritability. Similarly, medicines used for migraine can sometimes affect mood or behaviour depending on individual response and dosage. Since your blood pressure is currently controlled, it would be important to review: • Whether symptoms started after introduction or dose change of any medication • Sleep quality and stress levels • Frequency and severity of migraine episodes • Any associated anxiety or mood-related symptoms If irritability, mood swings, or behavioural changes are significantly affecting daily activities, medication adjustment or alternative preventive options may be required after proper evaluation. Hope this helps. Take care and stay healthy.
Next Steps
It would be helpful to review your complete medication list, BP readings, migraine history, and current symptoms in detail before suggesting changes. You may consider booking a consultation so a personalised and safe treatment plan can be discussed.
Health Tips
I would generally suggest: ✔ Do not stop or change medications suddenly ✔ Maintain regular sleep schedule and hydration ✔ Avoid known migraine triggers such as strong smells, loud noise, irregular meals, and stress

Try to find it cause of irritability. Is there any stress factor....? Get your routine blood test done including serum electrolyte. Sometimes sodium imbalance may be cause of irritability.
