Grandmother bp 170/87
Hi Doctor, I just checked my dadi's bp and it came 170/87 and same situation happened one week earlier as well. She dont take any bp medicine as of now and her age is 73. I gave telma 20 to her so that the bp can come down. Can I give that medicine whenever her bp goes high? Or she will need to have the medicine for bp on regular basis?

Life long BP medication required. Need to know other risk factors as telma can be a bit problematic in the elderly.

Bp medicines should be given continuously. Though we usually tell to give low salt diet, at this age don’t reduce salt cause elderly people are prone to develop hyponatremia. Telma 20 is a small dose . Continue that
