Feeling lost, confused lonely at new job
Hi, I am feeling stressed out, depressed and highly confused about life since the past couple of months. I'm unable to concentrate on anything, overthinking a lot, getting lethargic and loss of energy, which is negatively affecting my professional and personal life both. A software engineer by profession (all good till graduation), I have had a short breakdown in my first company (a MNC) and now feeling lost at my second (a small startup). What can I do to come out of this?

Dear human, I understand that it must have been difficult for you to have come out and share this, it needs lots of courage. I appreciate your effort to have taken the first step in your mental health journey. Being stressed out and depressed could be because of various reasons which need detailed exploration and the associated symptoms like lack of concentration, overthinking, being lethargic and loss of energy could be managed by identifying and addressing the major concern and this can be effectively done through therapy. Few suggestions to manage your stress and overthinking: 1. Try to identify the reason/cause for your stress, what’s bothering you exactly, why do you feel stressed out and depressed. For example, you’ve mentioned that you feel lost and lonely in your new job. Think about why you feel this way and what could be the possible elements in your work environment or in your personal life that makes you feel like this. While identifying, write down the possible reasons as it would help you to reflect on yourself. After writing it down, try to prioritize these by what you think affects you the most. If you already know the reason, well enough :) 2. If you’re unable to point out a particular reason, that’s completely okay. But if you're able to list out a few or a single reason, try to think of healthy ways to manage it. Think of things that are under your control and start working on it. 3. If you’re not able to figure the above mentioned things on your own, that’s completely okay. You could always seek professional help like consulting a psychologist/therapist who would be glad to guide you through this.
Next Steps
Please book an appointment with me via practo, we could go about exploring your concerns in detail and figuring out a beneficial way to manage it :) Take care!

Hey There! It seems like you are going through a rollercoaster of emotions. When you are stressed, it's only natural for your mind to go into a panic mode that inhibits clarity of thought. It's like a cloudy day where it's hard to see clearly which is why it's hard to focus. Your body is trying shut off from being overwhelmed and slowing down. The good news is you don't need to be stuck there and we can work together to build on skills that can help you stay calm in the face of a storm and build your confidence. I've worked in corporates for ten years before practicing independently as a psychologist. So I understand the essence of work life and startups.
