Take INJ ARV 0.1ml subcutaneously on each deltoid region for following days
Day 0,3,7,28
Initially fever may come but dont worry its just side effect of vaccine
To be on safer side
1. Inj Tt if the previous dose was 5yrs ago
2. Vaccine 2 doses that is on 0,3 days if
the previous vaccine is more than 3 months ago,if less than 3 months ago nothing is needed
I hope you have washed the area well, under running water and with soap for at least 15 minutes. Antiseptics can be applied.
Also, kindly note that it is not good to apply mirchi powder or any other irritants to assess the wound.
Next Steps
Injection TT- if you have not taken the same within the last 5 years.
As per government guidelines, it is wise to take two booster doses of the anti-rabies vaccine as early as possible. Kindly complete the schedule of vaccination.
No need for any other injections or medications.
Take care.
Since it was only a superficial nail scratch without bleeding, and you have already taken 2 rabies vaccine doses in April, you do not need the full course again.
Next Steps
As per current guidelines, only 2 booster doses are enough. No rabies immunoglobulin is required. Also, wash the area well with soap and water.
Health Tips
If the dog remains healthy for 10 days, that is also reassuring.

Hello,
Any scratch from a stray dog (even if it looks minor or without bleeding) should be taken seriously for rabies prevention. Applying irritants like chilli powder is not useful and can increase risk of infection â instead, wash the area thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 10â15 minutes.
Since you have already taken 2 doses of rabies vaccine in April 2025, this counts as a recent vaccination (within 6 months). In such situations, you do not need to restart the full 3 or 5-dose schedule. Instead, WHO and NCDC guidelines recommend a 2-dose booster (Day 0 and Day 3) of rabies vaccine for re-exposure.
ð¹ What you should do now:
Wash the scratch well with soap and water.
Get rabies vaccine boosters on Day 0 (today) and Day 3.
If the scratch had broken skin/bleeding and the dog is unvaccinated, discuss Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) with your doctor.
Keep the dog under observation for 10 days if possible. If it remains healthy and active, risk is very low.
Please visit a nearby hospital/doctor at the earliest to start your booster doses.

I cannot see any scratch but if you see any visible scratch then you should take ARV boosters post exposure prophylaxis.
2 dose 0.1ml ID on day 0 and day 3.
And you can clean the wound with soap and water.
Based on what you say, there is no wound. So clean the area with disinfectant and be cautious.
If you are afraid, since your last rabies shot exceeds 90days, you can take ARV though it's not recommended based on what you say.

So it appears to be a grade 1 (dog scratch without any bleeding). Nothing to worry about as there was no bleeding.Since you have already completed the anti rabies course 4months ago, not necessary to take it again.
Just observe the dog for a few days, since it’s a street dog .
Be cautious the next time.
Health Tips
Wash the area properly with soap and water . After rinsing it off confirm there’s no bleeding once again. Then if it’s a scratch it’s alright.
But if at all you see bleeding kindly get ERIG/HRIG . Do not wait! make sure to get it done within 24 hrs -48hrs.
If there is no bleeding, wash the wound with soap and water for 10-15 minutes. Take 2 doses of vaccine on day 0 and day 3.
