Dog Scratch after Full Post exposure rab
I had a cat scratch in June 2025 and completed the full post-exposure rabies vaccination course on 7th July 2025(day 0,3,7,28)  from a government hospital. Later, I got a stray dog scratch in my calf muscle on 1st August 2025 over my cotton pants, the pant was not torn though . I was told that I am immune for 3 months only after completing the course. So a booster was  not needed. Am  I fully protected from the August scratch?

Yes, you were fully protected from the August scratch, and you did not need any booster at that time. After completing a full post-exposure rabies vaccination course (Day 0, 3, 7, 28) on 7 July 2025, your body developed strong protective immunity. According to WHO and NCDC guidelines: Anyone who completed a full course within the last 3 months has ready immune memory. For any new exposure during this period, no booster is required, especially when the scratch occurred over intact clothing and did not break the skin. In your case: The cat-scratch vaccination was completed less than one month before the August incident → you were within the 3-month protection window. The dog scratch happened over cotton pants, and the fabric did not tear, meaning no direct contact of saliva with your skin. Such an exposure is considered Category I (no risk) → no vaccine, no booster, no immunoglobulin needed. So yes, you were completely safe and adequately protected from the August scratch, both because of your recent full vaccination and because the exposure itself was non-risky.

Yes — you were fully protected. Since you completed a full modern rabies vaccine course in July, any exposure within 3 months does NOT need any booster, even if a scratch occurs. Also, the August scratch was over intact clothing and did not break skin, which is not considered a rabies-risk exposure. ✔️ You were already immune ✔️ No booster needed ✔️ You are safe from that August scratch
