To take a proper blood pressure (BP) reading, follow these guidelines: 1. **Prepare Yourself:**    - Rest for 5 minutes before taking the reading.    - Avoid caffeine, exercise, and smoking 30 minutes prior.    - Use the bathroom beforehand to ensure a comfortable state. 2. **Position Yourself Correctly:**    - Sit in a chair with your back supported and feet flat on the floor.    - Keep your arm supported on a flat surface (like a table) with the upper arm at heart level.    - Relax and avoid talking during the measurement. 3. **Using the Right Equipment:**    - Use a properly calibrated and validated BP monitor.    - Choose the correct cuff size. The bladder inside the cuff should encircle 80% of your arm, and the cuff should be snug but not too tight. 4. **Taking the Measurement:**    - Wrap the cuff around your upper arm, above the elbow.    - Ensure the cuff is placed on bare skin, not over clothing.    - Take two or three readings, one minute apart, and record all results. Calculate the average for accuracy. 5. **Recording the Reading:**    - Note the time of day the reading is taken, as BP can fluctuate.    - Keep a log of your readings to track any changes over time. By following these steps, you ensure that your blood pressure readings are accurate and reliable.

you Blood pressure will changes according to your posture, sitting, lying down and standing blood pressures will be slightly different. it can also be different during any exertion ( walking, running, doing routine work) as compared to when resting. that is normal. this change can also be exagerrated by any medication you are taking.
Next Steps
always check BP in any one position, either sitting/ lying down.
Health Tips
consult a physician if you are already on any medication, or you have any symptoms of giddiness or dizziness.
