I've always had sensitive gums. But since a week my gums bleed when I brush even with a sensitive toothbrush. Does the toothpaste cause this? Should I use something like sensodyne?

it seems like a compromised oral hygiene case, which has led to gingivitis i.e bleeding gums and sensitivity. so you need to get your teeth cleaned at first and then maintain it as well with home care measures.
Next Steps
Visit a dentist soon to get cleaning of teeth
Health Tips
warm salt rinses
brushing softly- morning and bedtime
