Counseling would help . I am an online counselor and can help him from coming out of grief. Do get in touch with me for appointment. Happy to help ! Visit my Facebook page and my website mentioned on it to know my work.
first of all monitor his sleep, family/social interaction, maintenance of personal hygiene, appetite and basic functioning.
it is important to establish the right nature of anxiety your father is suffering from, it may be related to his health, hos experience at hospital, the news of his brother passing away or a combination of all the above factors. two aspects which can immensely assist him is continuous family support and presence and secondly seeing to it that he participates in all the rituals (last rites) of his brother, if he is allowed to do so with the right amount of family assistance and support, he will be able to process the grief/sadness pertaining to loss of his brother in an adequate and healthy manner. facilitate enough opportunities for him to express all his feelings surrounding the loss of his brother and then you will be able to understand the true nature of issues bothering him. anxiety/fear may be only a secondary reaction to something more primary bothering him deep beneath which he may not be able to express. so give him adequate time and space and support.
if he is still not able to cope up with all this issues, a grief counselor may be useful.
Next Steps
monitor vital functions, focus on hos communications
Hello,
Understandably so your father may be going through a difficult time given the present situation. If he has a preexisting anxiety related problem, it might escalate in the context of his brother’s death and his health (since you mentioned that he was in the hospital).
Next Steps
Grief therapy is highly recommended as it will help your father better deal with and come to terms with the death and may alleviate some of the related anxiety. A detailed evaluation may also help identify the existence of an anxiety disorder, if any and thereafter, follow a treatment plan for the same involving medication/therapy.
Health Tips
Support him to the best of your abilities and acknowledge his feelings instead of rubbishing them or brushing them off. In the meantime, reach out to a clinical psychologist for help related to starting grief therapy for your father.
