Platelates count

Hi all, Pls check the report , platelets is 50. Is this dengue. Suffering from fever from one week. Pls reply asap
215 Views
Transient fall of platelets in dengue is a common phenomenon. If it is below 20k, then the chances of spontaneous bleeding is increased. If you are not having any bleeding, restlessness, vomiting, pain in abdomen, unable to eat, breathlessness then it is all right. Just do platelet count everyday. Take ORS and water 3-3.5 ltrs daily. If you see platelets are further decreasing then please consult.

A platelet count of 50,000/µL accompanied by fever raises concern for conditions such as: 1. Viral Infections: Dengue fever: Known to cause a drop in platelet count (thrombocytopenia) and presents with fever, headache, and muscle pain. Malaria: Can cause fever, chills, and a drop in platelet count. Viral infections (e.g., influenza, COVID-19, HIV): Can cause both fever and thrombocytopenia. 2. Bacterial Infections: Sepsis: A severe systemic infection can lead to both fever and low platelets. Typhoid fever: Another cause of both fever and thrombocytopenia. 3. Autoimmune Conditions: Conditions like immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) can cause low platelets, and infections might trigger fever. 4. Drug-induced thrombocytopenia: Certain medications or recent treatments could lower platelet count and trigger fever as a side effect or allergic response.
Next Steps
Given the symptoms, it is essential to seek immediate medical attention to determine the cause and receive appropriate treatment. Blood tests, such as a complete blood count (CBC), liver function tests, and specific tests for infections like dengue or malaria, would likely be necessary.

Platelets are less so it highly indicates towards dengue but other symptoms we will consider as well What all medications you have started with ? Only carica papaya tablets will not be sufficient (but you can start this meanwhile)….other medications will be needed to treat the root cause and to control superadded infections Fever should get over If fever stops coming then we can predict that the recovery phase has started but meanwhile a proper treatment is necessary if it’s been a week
Next Steps
Run Dengue tests Most importantly keep hydrated as much as possible ….fluids are must Consult us for proper treatment

Hello, A platelet count of 50,000 is quite low, and given your history of fever for a week, dengue is a strong possibility, but other causes should also be considered. It's crucial to get a proper evaluation done, including tests for dengue NS1 antigen, IgM, and IgG, along with other investigations to rule out other infections like malaria or typhoid. If dengue is confirmed, close monitoring of platelets and hydration levels is essential, as dengue can sometimes lead to severe complications such as bleeding or fluid accumulation. I recommend that you visit a nearby healthcare facility immediately for a physical examination and further tests. For a more detailed evaluation and treatment plan, feel free to contact me. You can WhatsApp me at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two for further guidance. Take care.
