Hi, Your LDL is mildly high and HDL is low, which is common at your age. Start with healthy diet, regular exercise and weight control many see good improvement in 3 months. Repeat lipid profile after that. Feel free to consult for further guidance.

Yes, the cholesterol levels are abnormal. LDL 131 mg/dL – mildly high HDL 23 mg/dL – very low At age 27, diet, regular exercise, weight control, and avoiding smoking/tobacco are usually the first steps. Repeat the lipid profile after 3 months. Medication is not always needed initially unless there are other risk factors (diabetes, high BP, smoking, family history of heart disease). Consult your doctor for personalized advice.

Before starting medicines, a proper balanced diet can solve it. Exercise, avoidance of junk foods , and calorie measurement can help a lot. After this follow up is necessary.

It is a very vague question without proper history. LDL values, although more than normal person its optimal value for you depends on your history. For example for cardiac patients and patients with family history of early cardiac issues we need to keep the levels below normal level. Also depends on what you eat, your BMI and other causes for elevated LDL etc... blindly taking medications is not good without evaluating why you have a higher LDL compared to a normal person. You might end up just doing symptomatic treatment without treating the cause and medication have their side effects as well. You are a young patient so get it evaluated. Hope this helps.

But still we need more information to completely asses your overall health and cholesterol level. You can consult me for more information.
