My wife Mohita Mathur had undergone Cataract surgery for her left eye at NIO, Aundh. Surgery was recommended and performed by Dr. Aditya Kelkar. Earlier her both eyes had very minimal +ve cylindrical power with minor hazy vision issues in left eye. Based on the recommendation of Dr. Kelkar, we had gone for the best Toric Synergy Multi focal IOL for implantation in left eye with cataract surgery . Today after 2 months of surgery my wife still complains of hazy vision from left eye along with frequent headaches post surgery. She can experience clear difference in vision between her left and right eye. When we consulted Dr. Aditya Kelkar today explaining the current issues, ** **** ********** ******* ******* **** ** *** *********** *** *********** **** He bluntly refused to any visionary difference between both eyes and made wild statements that headaches could be because of blood pressure or neurological issues whereas she doesn’t have these issues at all. My wife is a breast cancer survivor with very strong willpower to live life happily. Post surgery, she is completely under stress due to frequent headaches probably due to substantial vision differences between both eyes . Post today’s consultancy we feel we are deceived by Dr. Aditya Kelkar. Unfortunate part is this cannot be undone and it seems she will have to live like this with vision differences. We’re definitely going to seek another opinion now but not sure what can be done to improve. ** ******* ****** ** ******** ** *** ** **** *** ******* **** ** ********* ******* ** ***** *** **** ******* ***** *** ******* ****** ******* **** ********** Cost of this Femto laser assisted Cataract surgery with Synergy Toric IOL with Calisto eye system is also highly expensive and this even doesn’t gets covered by any insurance company.de

I had my lasik surgery on the 27th of March, 2021 after a lot of speculation. The surgery was done by Dr. Aditya Kelkar, a highly reputed doctor in NIO Aundh, Pune. The surgery costed a little over 1L (including the consultation charges and the multiple tests fees).
Now, for any medical procedure, you expect the doctor to help you with three stages - 1. Pre-procedure consultation where the doctor explains you the complete procedure, the positives and negatives, the risks associated, etc. 2. The actual procedure where the you let yourself and your body go through a lot in the hope of a positive future. 3. Post procedure guidance on how to deal with the changes your body is going through in the first few weeks.
Now let me explain one by one, the experience I had with Dr. Aditya Kelkar at the above 3 stages.
1. Per-surgery consultation - This being the first surgery of my life, I was obviously extremely worried and scared. So, first I booked a consultation with the doctor to understand about the procedure. Before the procedure, the hospital will ask you go to multiple rooms and create reports of multiple things related to your eyes - current number, dry eyes status, etc. in your to check whether you are eligible for the surgery. Post that, you will get to see the doctor for consultation. I was taken to see Dr. Aditya Kelkar after all the tests were done. The consultation with him lasted for about 5 MINUTES, if not less. He first saw my reports and said my eyes were good to go. He gave me two kinds of surgery options and on asking what's the difference, he gave a one-liner very technical reply about the procedure (which no layman would understand) and it ended with a smirk on his face trying to mock me because there's nothing I could do with that technical information. On asking me the risks associated with the procedure, he handed over a piece of paper instead of answering the questions. It's as if his time is too precious to be spent on consulting patients which is funny considering the fact that THAT IS ESSENTIALLY HIS JOB.
2. The procedure - On 27th of March I had my surgery. The hospital staff prepared me for it. The surgery went okay. Can't comment on the results yet because I can still not see clearly on laptop and phone, which they say will get better with time.
3. Post surgery guidance - You can say goodbye to any sort of post surgery guidance needed from the doctor. Once the surgery is done, the doctor will spend lesser time with you than a food delivery agent. I have had three consultation appointments post surgery so far where Dr. Aditya Kelkar has spent less than 30 seconds in each of the appointments. He just put some light in my eye, checked if everything looked okay but did not appreciate me speaking out any of my concerns. Post surgery, he will not even invite you to sit on the chair in his room so that you can raise concerns, if any. In my last appointment, I stood in his room for a bit trying to explain issues I was facing on laptop and on phone. He was visibly irritated in his tone, impatient to hear out and was not even letting me complete my sentences. Instead of asking me to sit down and hearing me out, he asked me to go outside the room, came along with me and showed me a big photo of do's and don'ts hung in the reception and asked me check that out if I had any further questions.
Bottom line is that a doctor's role is very important in each of the three stages of any medical procedure. I* *** ***** **** *** ****** ** *** ************************* ** *** ***** *** ***** It's your body and the ownership to ensure that it is in good hands lies with you. As far as my surgery is concerned, I have my fingers crossed in the hope I start seeing clearly in a few weeks. After all, my number was lesser than 2 in both the eyes. And as far Dr. Aditya Kelkar is concerned, I hope he gets to see this review and reflect upon his responsibilities ** * ******* **** *** **** *** ***** *********** **** ********* ** *** **** ** ** **** ******* ********** ** ***** **** ******
