Visited Dr. Chintan Hegde (Orthopedic surgeon)
Dr. Hegde conducted an ACL reconstruction using hamstring graft which failed within 11 months and has caused permanent damage to my hamstring, despite correctly following all physiotherapy protocols. As a result, I had to undergo revision ACL surgery from another orthopedic, this time using the Quad Tendon.
Nearly 3 years on, I still have major issues with my hamstring muscle and keep pulling or injuring it even with slighty intensive movements such as butt kicks or hamstring presses. No amount of physiotherapy and exercises have helped remedy this. I want to make it clear that right after the surgery to several months later, I constantly experienced immense pain, destabilization, crepitus and locking up in my knee but these complaints were all dismissed by Dr. Hegde whose entire tone and behaviour changed by this time. He became hasty, irritable and didn't seem to have the time or patience to listen to or acknowledge my issues nor any interest to follow up about my condition.
When I tore my ACL for the second time and consulted with another doctor post-MRI, it become evident that the tunnels made during the initial surgery were misaligned and too much of the hamstring was cut/removed without close attention. Thanks to this horrible life altering decision of choosing a bad surgeon, I am now on course for early arthritis and have to struggle with lingering knee and muscle problems for the rest of my life!
