Plateaus are a normal & expected in the process of weight loss. While you can use them as an excuse to quit the program, here are a few things you can do to break the plateau:

1) Do not get tempted to consult a quack who promises quick weight loss solutions.

2) Challenge your body by altering the type of exercise. Cross training routines which involve different forms of exercises are an excellent way to achieve this. You will however need guidance from a experienced & qualified fitness trainer.

3) Alter your diet under the guidance of a qualified dietitian/ nutritionist. Avoid trying the latest diet fad as you may be left with nothing except loss of lean muscle which is the healthy part of you.

4) Manage stress & get adequate rest. High levels of stress both physical & emotional cause release of hormones which hinder weight loss.
