The best things to avoid are sugary drinks. They can cause a lot of damage to your teeth and gums. The sugar in them, cling to your teeth and if you don't brush your teeth for a while,  it won't be washed away.

The foods you eat contribute to tooth decay when they combine with bacteria in your mouth.

To protect your teeth, consume plenty of calcium-rich foods like milk, yogurt, and cheese. Calcium maintains the bone in which teeth roots are embedded in. This is particularly important for the elderly and for children during development of both baby and adult teeth.

Avoid sticky sweets, like soft candies, toffees, taffies, and pastries. If you eat sweets, rinse your mouth with water afterwards or brush your teeth if you have a chance. If you chew gum, chew sugar-free gums.

Another thing that stains your teeth is tobacco in cigarettes. The tobacco in cigarettes can cause your teeth to turn yellow and it can cause permanent damage. Yellow teeth is never a good look. So if you smoke, it might be worth thinking about ways that you could give up.

One of the best ways to make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy is to have regular dental check-ups. It is recommended that you see a dentist every six months. Having a good dental care routine in place will help to reduce the chance of getting problems.
