STEP 1 :

Each month, one of the ovaries releases and egg -a process called ovulation . At the same time , hormonal changes prepare uterus for pregnancy . If ovulation takes place and the egg is not fertilised , the lining of the uterus sheds through the vagina. This is a menstrual period.

STEP 2 :

GETTING YOUR UTERUS READY As your eggs . start to grow the follicles release a hormone called as oestrogen. In a natural anticipation of fertilisation (the union of egg and sperm)’ ,the rising oestrogen levels stimulate the lining of your uterus (endometrium) to become thicker. This helps to form a spongy bed into which your embryo (the fertilised egg) can easily implant and grow.

STEP 3 :

SELECTING THE EGG OF THE MONTH Within a few days one of the egg follicles begins to surpass the others in growth and maturity. It produces the strongest egg , the one you will eventually ovulate.STEP 4 :OVULATION The egg finally leaves the ovary after rupture of the follicle and travels to fallopian tube

STEP 5 :

GETTING PREGNANT :In order for conception to occur, your partner’s sperm must make contact with egg within 12 to 24 hours following ovulation. The egg in tube remains fertile for about 12 to 24 hours ,after which time it begins to disintegrate.
