Is there a person on earth who is not scared of Examinations? Be it a bright student who stands first in each exam or an average student who struggles hard to fair good, everyone fears these dreadful examinations. You study throughout the year but on the morning of examination, you feel that you know nothing and how will you manage to write. Even today, I get nightmares that I am rushing to an examination hall failing to reach on time. I am not able to complete my paper in the given time frame of 3 hours. I am struggling hard to write the paper but my pen is not moving. Such is the horror of examinations! Fear of examinations is very common, but in few cases, it becomes a problem of grave concern. I have come across many patients especially young children in the age group of 8-12 years who face this issue. Parents have a difficult time watching their children sick. Some children turn alright after the first examination but in many, symptoms prevail throughout the examinations. It is not that these students are dull in studies; some of them even hold meritorious records but fail to fight against exam fever.

How to know your child is suffering from Exam fever?

Your child may likely get symptoms before his/her examinations such as fever, headache, loss of appetite, vomiting, body ache; he may become cranky, irritable, and start throwing tantrums. Some children—especially girls tend to cry a day before the examinations and feel that they know nothing and are not capable enough to take examinations.

Ayurvedic treatment of Exam Fever

Moral support should be extended by parents of such children. They should be taught to study throughout the year and not on the day of examinations. In addition to these tips, ayurvedic treatment can subside this horrible fever. Brahmi ghrita is the best-known medicine for Exam fever. Brahmi is a herb—having the shape of the brain—which promotes memory, intelligence, and relaxes the central nervous system. It calms the emotional and mental turbulence that is going in the brains of the children before examinations. Ghee in Ayurveda is known to subside Pitta level which is in the form of fever in the body. Ghee augments the intellectual power and is considered as Medhya in Ayurveda, which means it improves memory and strengthens the nervous system. It is always advisable to consult an Ayurvedic physician before administering these medicines to your child.
