A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. And this goes out to the many people in India who believe that since the mother is giving birth to a child, it is she influences the gender of the child to be born. But to the utter dismay of these people, it is not so.

Females have 2 X chromosomes while males have 1 X and 1 Y chromosome. How these chromosomes fuse determines the sex of the child. So, it is apparent that female having both X chromosome gives one X chromosome and it depends on the male whether X or Y chromosome is fused with that of the mother.

As a result:

When X fuses with X, a girl child is born and when X fuses with Y, a boy baby is born.

This is not only for the purpose of information but BGH holds it to its social responsibility to share the information because, in certain families in India, violence is still common because apparently, a mother couldn’t give birth to a specific gender child.

Also, it is a punishable offence under Indian law to determine the sex of the child before it is born.
