BAD BREATH, BLEEDING, GUMS, GUM DISEASE. Approximately 70% of the world's population have gum disease without knowing about them.
Grossly we can divide gum disease into 4 stages:
Stage 1: Bleeding during brushing.
Stage 2: Bad breath due to infection in gums and bone, swollen spongy gums.
Stage 3: Surrounding bone loss leading to space in between teeth, food impaction seen.
Stage 4: Tooth mobility with sometimes pain and swelling.
In Diabetic Patients disease progresses rapidly, and shoots up blood sugar levels. Regular checkups are suggested.
TREATMENT: Depending on the stage treatment varies from simple scaling (cleaning) to advanced painless laser gum treatments.
PREVENTION: Daily 2 times brushing, morning and night before going to bed (very important) regular check up, scaling once in 6 months or as advised by the dentist.
