Avascular necrosis AVN which is also called as osteonecrosis.it means there is no blood supply for part of bone which result in dead bone tissue  ,which affect healthy bone functions. in 80 to 85 % cases it occurs in hip joint(ferum head).it can be happen to any joints like knee  ,shoulder , jaw etc.

if we consider male : female ratio we found majority of male patients.

Possible causes:

1) Trauma or injury 

2) Alcoholic person

3) High dose steroid use

4) certain medical conditions 

5) vitiated vata dosh 

6) idiopathic 

7) after covid or covid vaccines we found many new cases of avn.

Symptoms:

in the initial stages where ficat & arlet score is at stage 1 or 2 generally patient dont have major symptoms. after few days to months it start showing symptoms as disease progresses .

1) pain around hip & it increases after putting pressure  

2) in later stages mild to moderate pain around hip, thigh & lower back 

3) Stiffness of hip & back muscles result in decrease hip movements 

4) Changes in walking gesture typically like vulture (gidhad) 

5) Reduction in standing & walking time 

6) difficulty in standing up from chair
