A muscle sprain at the upper thigh shouldn't cause numbness of feet. You need at least 3 to 6 weeks of rest for proper muscle sprain at upper thigh to resolve with minimal walking job and daily activities. Return to sports is just a clinical decision and you should gradually work step by step towards it. If you want to quantify the injury MRI scan is the best one will show what is happening in your thigh muscles hip joint labrum or bones itself and particularly the lumbosacral spine which will evaluate your nerve pressure symptoms causing foot numbness

Looks like you need proper conditioning of your muscles needed for the sport. Cause of numbness should be evaluated.
Next Steps
See an orthopaedic surgeon for clinical examination and further treatment.
