Hi
My wife is taking a proper diet however her weight is not improving. Most of the time she feels weakness. She is under weight and not improving her health.
Is there any test required.
Please suggest how she can improve her weight.

The following tests are recommended for an initial laboratory evaluation: CBC, and differential iron deficiency anaemia, urinalysis, urine culture- kidney infection or renal disease, hyperthyroidism.
Eat smaller meals more often,adding healthy snacks between meals.
Add extra calories to meals with cheese, nuts and seeds.
Add protein to your meals with beans, pulses, fish , eggs and lean meat
Have snacks that are easy to prepare, such as yoghurt or rice puddings
Build muscle with strength training or yoga - exercise can also improve appetite .

Take home cooked meals comprising all nutrients macros and micros. Take good fats, carbs n protein. Limit all processed preserved packaged and outside food completely. Stop hard drinks and smoking if any. Take good water intake of atleast 3-4 lit a day.
Alongwith the dietary changes, lifestyle modifications must be done like Physical activity for atleast 1 hour, time discipline should be fixed for all meals and other activities. Try getting sleep for 6-8 hrs min.

I am happy to know that you are so much concerned about her health. Firstly we need to check her nutrition intake in regular diet. If there is any nutritional deficiencies then we need to work on them. Weight is just not the parameter for fitness if she feels energetic and lively.
