Possible Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is considered, given the chronic gastrointestinal symptoms, and a diagnostic work-up including stool studies and celiac serology is recommended to rule out other organic causes.
⢠Management strategies include dietary modifications (low FODMAP diet), pharmacotherapy (antispasmodics, low-dose tricyclic antidepressants), and a long-term management plan to reduce frequent doctor visits.
⢠Addressing the psychological symptoms involves mental health interventions like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), pharmacological options such as anxiolytics or SSRIs (under psychiatric supervision), and mind-body practices like mindfulness meditation and yoga.
⢠An integrated approach is recommended, involving a gastroenterologist, mental health professional, and potentially an endocrinologist to address all aspects of the condition, emphasizing stress reduction strategies and regular reevaluations to adjust treatment as needed
