The occurrence of a black cavity, pain in the gum, and a small gap between teeth might be related to several factors. It's important to follow up with your dentist for a proper evaluation and treatment plan. Here are some possible reasons and steps to consider: Cavity Formation: The black cavity could be due to tooth decay. Decay occurs when bacteria in the mouth produce acids that erode the tooth's enamel. This can lead to cavities and, if left untreated, can cause pain and gum irritation. Solution: The temporary filling is likely meant to address the initial decay. The permanent filling that your dentist plans to place will restore the tooth's structure and prevent further decay. Follow your dentist's instructions and attend your follow-up appointment for the permanent filling. Gum Pain: The pain in your gum might be due to irritation caused by the decay or the temporary filling material. It's important to note that gum pain can sometimes be a sign of infection or inflammation. Solution: If the pain persists or worsens, contact your dentist. They might need to assess the situation and determine if any additional treatment, such as antibiotics or adjustment of the filling, is necessary. Gap Between Teeth: The gap between your teeth could be a result of the decay affecting the tooth structure or changes in the gum tissue due to the inflammation. Solution: After the decay is addressed with the permanent filling, your dentist can also assess the gap between your teeth. Depending on the size and location of the gap, they might recommend options such as dental bonding, veneers, or orthodontic treatment to close the gap. Oral Hygiene: Inadequate oral hygiene can contribute to decay and gum issues. Brushing and flossing regularly are essential for maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Solution: Maintain good oral hygiene practices by brushing at least twice a day and flossing daily. This will help prevent further decay and gum issues. Remember, your dentist is the best person to diagnose the exact cause of your symptoms and provide appropriate treatment. It's important to keep your follow-up appointments and communicate any changes or concerns you have with your dental health.

Please attach photograph. Temporary fillng must have come off that is why there is a gap. Your dentist might be doing IPC(Indirect pulp capping) so that is why there is temporary filling. If gum pain persists,do visit your dentist for re-evaluation

May be your filling has come off creating gaps between the teeth. At times temporary filling for Indirect Pulp Capping (IPC) is done to sans the tooth from undergoing RCT. But if the tooth/gum has more started paining then plz get it re-evaluated..

Hi, When did you get the temporary filling? The temporary filling might have chipped off or it might be impinging on the gum. Suggest you go back to your dentist and get an X-ray to see how deep is the decay and filling.
