Excessive sleep (16+ hours) with body/joint pain may be linked to thyroid imbalance, vitamin deficiencies, or mood-related issues.
Next Steps
Get basic blood tests (thyroid, vitamin D/B12, CBC) and consult a physician for evaluation. You can also consult me for counselling support.
Health Tips
Maintain a regular sleep schedule, light daily exercise, and balanced diet to improve energy.

Hi, Sleeping excessively along with joint and body pains can point to underlying physical or psychological concerns such as vitamin deficiencies, thyroid issues, or even depression. It’s important to get a medical checkup to rule out physical causes. If reports are normal, consulting a psychologist may help explore stress, mood, or emotional factors that could be contributing. Early attention can make a big difference.

Hi Thanks for reaching out. How long has it been since you have been sleeping for 16 hours. If you are stressed or anxious about something consult a psychologist and talk about it. It is important to know the root cause of sleeping too much. A psychologist will guide you on how you can be calm and energetic.

Sleeping 16+ hours a day along with body and joint pains isn’t typical “just being tired” — it may point to an underlying medical or mental health condition, such as depression, chronic fatigue, thyroid issues, or even side effects of medications. Oversleeping can itself make body pain worse, creating a cycle.
Next Steps
Please consult a physician for a thorough check-up (blood tests for thyroid, vitamin D, B12, and other deficiencies, along with mental health screening). If this has been going on for weeks, it’s important not to ignore it.
Health Tips
Try setting a gentle alarm to regulate your sleep to 8–9 hours gradually instead of 16. Incorporate light stretching or short walks — movement helps with both mood and joint stiffness. Keep a journal of your sleep hours, pain levels, and mood — this can help the doctor understand patterns. Ensure hydration and balanced nutrition, since deficiencies often worsen fatigue and pain.

Thank you for sharing your concern. Sleeping for 16 hours regularly, along with joint and body pain, can feel overwhelming and may signal that your body and mind need attention. Sometimes such symptoms are linked to vitamin deficiencies, thyroid imbalance, or low energy due to lifestyle or stress. It may also relate to mood changes like depression, where both excessive sleep and body pain commonly occur.
Next Steps
The first step is to consult a physician for basic tests (vitamin D, B12, thyroid, etc.) to rule out physical causes. Alongside, gentle daily movement, exposure to sunlight, and mindful breathing exercises can help regulate your body’s rhythm.
Health Tips
If medical reports are normal, a psychologist can help you explore stress, emotions, or underlying patterns that might be affecting your energy and sleep. Please know—you are not alone in this, and with the right support, you can feel much better. Early attention will make recovery easier.
