Irregular sleep, body pain, weakness
My mother has undergone several treatments for her prolonged hand and leg pain and also pain mostly in the right side of her body and she feels weakness in her body....All the neurological investigations... CT, USG .. MRI ... everything is normal... But still there remains the pain, the pain switches to different part of her bodies. She has irregular sleep, sometimes she can't sleep at all...And no multivitamins and tablets are working, she has habit of changing doctors. Whom should we consult for her disease?

Hi there, Old age is not free from sickness.... We have to learn to live with the pain... Your mother wants to get rid of the pain so changes from doctor to doctor... No use of changing doctors rather tell her to accept pain is part of life...

Thank you for reaching out. It must be extremely distressing for both your mother and you to be going through this. The symptoms seem to be psychosomatic in nature. I would advise you to visit a psychologist who can explore the complaints with your mother and engage her in psychotherapeutic intervention.

It seems clear case of psychosomatic symptoms but cannot be clear until a proper psych diagnosis is done. There could be old emotional distress which had not been addressed since long and it has become extremely stress ful.

Hello. I can understand it must be very distressing for her as well as you. It has been noticed over years that our mind and body are connected and sometimes may give rise to problems which looks like bodily problems but causes lies in the psychological process. For example. Some people when stressed develop acne, some experience constipation, some experience gastric issues and similarly pain.  Individuals often gets temporary relief with any medication and problems relapse and tendency to switch doctors and look for better treatment emerge. I appreciate that you are taking care of your mother and Concerned about her health. Her pain maybe due to psychosomatic issue. I suggest you take help from both Psychologist and Psychiatrist to help her better. With good therapies and some medicines prescribe by Psychiatrist she may get recover.
