- The vitamin D level of 5 units is very low. Normally it should be above 20 ng/ml. Do not skip the doses which your doctor has given.
- Along with this, you need to follow these tips to improve your vitamin D levels and to maintain them:
1.Sunlight: Go out in the morning sunlight, majorly before 10 am without any sunscreen, for about 30 minutes, 4–5 times a week. Let your arms and legs be exposed to vitamin D to absorb it naturally.
2.Include these foods in your meals:
-Fortified milk or soy milk
-Breakfast cereals fortified with vitamin D
-Mushrooms
-Egg yolks
-Fatty fish
Low vitamin D can cause fatigue, joint pain, low energy levels and low mood.
Once your course of medication is over, your doctor might shift you to a maintenance dose (like once a month). You need to get your levels checked again after 3 months.

Hi
Vitamin D deficiency is very prevalent in India.
As per my knowledge doctors prescribe 600 IU supplement.
Handling vitamin D deficiency is very critical only vitamin D supplement might not suffice.
If you need more information pls connect through Practo.
Your Vitamin D level is very low (only 5 ng/mL), which usually requires a longer course of high-dose supplementation. If the doctor has given only 2 tablets for 2 weeks, it's possible they plan to reassess or combine it with other interventions. It would be a good idea to confirm with your doctor whether a longer course is planned after 2 weeks or if there’s another reason for the short duration."
