Hello. I have reviewed your query regarding your Vitamin D3 treatment plan.
Based on your initial level of 13 units, your doctor correctly started you on a loading dose of 60,000 (60k) units weekly to quickly bring your levels into a healthy range.
1. Completing Your Current Course
It is important to follow a structured transition from your weekly loading phase to a maintenance phase:
The Final 4 Capsules: Since you have already completed 8 weeks of weekly doses, you should transition to taking one capsule per month for the remaining 4 capsules.
Rechecking Levels: You should wait until you have finished these remaining doses, or at least 3–4 months from your last weekly dose, before going for a blood recheck. This allows your body to reach a stable "steady state" level.
2. Long-Term Maintenance
Vitamin D levels can drop again once intensive treatment stops. After completing these 4 months of maintenance, your physician may recommend a long-term plan, which often includes:
One 60k capsule every month for an additional 6 months.
Increasing daily sunlight exposure (15–20 minutes of midday sun).
Including Vitamin D-rich foods like eggs, fortified dairy, and fatty fish in your diet.
Next Step
Continue with one capsule once a month for the next four months. After this period, please consult your General Physician for a repeat Vitamin D test to ensure your levels have stabilized within the normal range (30–100 ng/mL).
Complete the Course: Continue taking the remaining 4 capsules once weekly for the next 4 weeks. Do not switch to bi-weekly or monthly yet, as your levels likely haven't stabilized.
Timing of Recheck: Wait for at least 2 weeks after your 12th (last) capsule before going for a blood re-check. Testing too early can give a false "high" reading due to the recent supplement.
Maintenance Phase: Once your levels are confirmed to be normal, we will switch you to a maintenance dose (usually 60k once a month) to ensure they don't drop again.
