Recurrent ulcers in the same spot on the tongue can be concerning, and it's always a good idea to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Recurrent ulcers can have various causes, including trauma from biting the tongue, irritation from sharp teeth or dental appliances, stress, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, immune system disorders, and viral or fungal infections. In some cases, they may be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. While most ulcers on the tongue are not serious and tend to heal on their own within a couple of weeks, recurrent ulcers or those that persist for an extended period should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. They can examine the ulcer, take a medical history, and potentially perform additional tests to determine the underlying cause. If your friend is experiencing recurrent ulcers on the tongue, it would be advisable for them to consult with a healthcare professional, such as a dentist or an oral medicine specialist. They can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment options based on the specific circumstances and underlying cause.
